What Giants Are YOU Facing?
These past couple of weeks leading up to my departure have been extremely hard. Waiting for packages to arrive. Stressing out over finances. Paperwork. Errors. Mistakes. Loss of faith. I have been walking around with my head hung low; a sheer spirit of defeat cast over me. I've been letting Satan have his way instead of pressing onward towards God's. As I was doing some research for my paperwork, I decided to jump onto youtube to listen to some rockin' tunes. Sure enough, a recommended video had caught my eye; Facing The Giants. I've seen this movie several times and shed countless tears each time. [[it's on my top 5 list fo sho!]] This particular scene has brought me through a lot of hard stressing times in my life. It has encouraged me, inspired me, and has taught me some of the greatest life lessons to date.
Heard that old phrase "quit while you're ahead?" Sometimes we tend to tackle our issues with that in mind. We tend to give up or quit before we even start. Maybe we feel like we are not strong enough, don't have the will power to make it, or the resources. Maybe it is fear of failure, regret, heartache, standing up to those around you. Maybe it is just simply impossible! You are right. We are not strong enough, it is impossible, but I serve a MIGHTY God who tells me that "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength."[Philippians 4:13] My faith has been tested numerous times, but i know that each time I feel like am at my whits end, God swoops me up before I take a fall. Instead of wallowing in despair or self pity, I am loving reminded to "Consider it PURE joy to face trials of many kinds because the testing of my faith develops perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that I may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." [paraphrased from James 1:2-4] We need to persevere or endure the challenges and trials that come our way because when it is all said and done, it's gonna be worth it all! In everything you do, strive for the best, give it your all, don't back down. God is there beside you rooting you and, fighting on your behalf [ex. 14:14]. Trust in Him. Have faith. Preserve. and Triumph will be yours. When the going gets tough, keep going!
I hope this encourages you as much as it did me. With just 14 days away from a a whole WORLD of change [literlly!] my brain seems to be on overload. The paperwork. Packing. Saying my goodbyes. THE MONEY...oh that dreaded money (but Praise the Lord it is for such a noble cause!)...all of it has been stressing me out. I am reminded that the God I serve is my coach. He is right beside me yelling "Don't give up. Your very best. Your VERY BEST! You can do it. You're almost there. A few more days. Keep going. Don;t give up. Keep going. Your VERY BEST!" He is there for you, just as he is for me.
Just a few of Katie's current Giants:
-fear (on SO many levels)
-stress
-finances.
-not having enough support for Africa
-having to be sent home
-not measuring up
-regrets
-missed opportunities.
-the big "N-O" :/
-not getting done
-being ill-prepared
-rejection
