A dream is a wish...
Dreams really do come true. After loads of packing, phone calls, emails, letters, texts, and the likes, I have finally arrived here in South Africa. All flights went well! From Austin to Washington, DC; onto Dakar and finally South Africa. A totally of about 21 and 1/2 air time hours all together. Unfortunately, I didn't get much sleep, but a sure did last night!
I was highly convinced my dream was on the verge of ending, but last night I fell asleep, and woke up...still here! Oh it is real! The past few days have consisted of getting settled in and going through some immersion sessions to give us a brighter picture of our near future plans. So much change has been taking place these past few days, but the Lord has been SOOOO good.
So we moved into a little cottage, which is roughly a mile away from the Impact Kids school in Kya Sands, one of the squatter camps we will be focusing on this year during ministry. (I will be posting some pictures hopefully soon!) It is super cute. Moving into our rooms, settling in; it has all been so surreal and exciting.
Today, we actually went to the local Pick N Pay Hyper, aka their version of Super Walmart. After tackling our 1st annual photo scavenger hunt at the store yesterday, to help familiarize us with some items we may be searching for, we returned for our first official grocery shopping. Part of our program involves learning to cook and clean for ourselves and live in community. I am just so overwhelmed, in a good way, at how the Lord has been moving during these past few days, which gives me even more hope and excitement for the future!
